He also headed the Mobile Epidemic Investigation Team at the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune from 2000 to 2004 during which period he investigated outbreaks of pneumonia, rubella, typhoid, food poisoning, hepatitis in different parts of the country. During his military service he was also awarded for his work on Tribal Malaria and received a best paper award for a published paper on outbreak of Hepatitis E.
